A hand-drawn roster of soul, rap, reggae and jazz-adjacent artists, ordered by the audience each one can actually reach — streaming pull weighted against social following. Every figure below was read off the platform that publishes it, on the date shown.
Ranking. Reach score is a weighted blend on a log scale — Spotify monthly listeners at 60%,
Instagram followers at 40%, each mapped across its own range (10K–100M listeners,
1K–30M followers) and rescaled to 0–100. An artist with only one of the two metrics is
scored on that metric alone and marked partial — a lavender bar instead of a rose one — because
a one-legged score is not the same measurement as a two-legged one.
Total lifetime streams. Deliberately absent. Neither Spotify, Apple Music nor YouTube publishes a per-artist all-time stream total, and the aggregator estimates that circulate are modelled, not measured. Rather than print a number that looks authoritative and isn't, this index uses monthly listeners — a figure the platform itself publishes.
Faces. Thirty-eight of the thirty-nine rows carry a photograph, each taken from a source that names the person it depicts — a Wikipedia lead image where an article exists, otherwise the artist’s own profile picture on Deezer, Spotify or Last.fm, and for the three non-performers a portrait from their own professional page. Every row credits its portrait in the expanded panel, and each crop is centred on the detected face rather than the middle of the frame. Carla is the one monogram left: the name could not be resolved to a person, and a wrong face is worse than none. A missing or broken file removes itself and the monogram shows through, so the page stays correct however full that folder is.
Confidence. Streaming figures are read directly from each artist’s Spotify page, which states the count itself, and are reproduced at the precision Spotify displays — 65.6M, not a false-precision 65,600,000. Follower counts dated 14 Sep 2026 were read from the Instagram profile linked in that row; the rows carrying an earlier or vaguer date still hold a tracker’s last published figure, and say so. Identity was checked before either number was taken: every artist was matched to their platform pages through MusicBrainz relations or a known track title, never by name alone, which is what separates this Ogi, Avara or Carla from the several others recording under each name. An earlier pass that relied on third-party trackers left thirteen artists with no figure at all and put a six-year-old count on Tanerélle; both were artefacts of the trackers, not of the artists.
